From the perspective of an Indigenous researcher tAnishinaabe Metis, and the chair of the Research Eth-Ics at Ryerson University, Dr. Lynn Laval. will share insights into Chapter 9 of the Tri-Council Policy Statement (“PCPS). The TCPS is the federal guidelines for research being done with people and Chapter 9 focuses specifically on research with First Nations, Inuit and &Wis. Lynn will present the ethical requirements of research with Indigenous peoples of Canada and some of the synergies, challenges and tensions she has witnessed between community and researchers. Some of the issues being discussed can be applicable to delivering of programs with Indigenous peoples, so the presentation will be of interest to non-researchers. In addition, the discussion will be valuable for Indigenous peoples who are approached by researchers.
