The Position: UCN is seeking an Educational Technologist at The Pas Campus. Specific responsibilities of the
Educational Technologist include: day to day supervision and maintenance of educational technology platforms, providing Learning Management System support for faculty and students, quality control of educational technology support services for distance and technology-mediated courses, and participation with the development and delivery of educational technology information and resources for Learning Technology Facilitator (LTF) staff, faculty and students. The position will liaise directly with the Information Technology department, and others, to support academic operations and maintenance of required digital tools, and to consult on additional purchases and equipment integration for academic purposes. The position will work closely with the Learning Technologies Supervisor, and will report to and provide support to the Learning Technologies Supervisor, and will report to and provide support to the Learning Technologies Specialist. The position will also be involved in report writing, and will refer faculty and students to a variety of other UCN resources as required. The Educational Technologist will provide supervision and support to LTF staff, organize and manage LTF assistance to faculty and students in distance and technology-mediated classes and work as part of a team to provide strategic direction for support activities within the Instructional Services department. The incumbent will also assist with the creation and organization of relevant resources and materials and/or refer faculty and students to a variety of other UCN resources as required.
Computer programming or applications diploma; other related education and experience may be considered
Strong technical skills, including experience with web-based course management and/or content management systems, web design principles (HTML and CSS), data management, flow and analytics, computer information architecture principles and methods, and various operating systems, file structures, file formats and protocols
Ability to use educational technologies and web-based tools to support learning
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated self-management skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Must be able to work independently as well as to lead within a team environment
Demonstrated ability to understand cultural influences and issues specific to adult learners in northern communities
Personal experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
The ability to speak an Indigenous language
Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) or other Adult Education course/credential
Knowledge of streaming, audio and video, podcasting and social networking tools
Conditions of Employment:
