English Writing Instructor Faculty of Arts Business and Science The Pas, MB 6-Month Term Position

The Position: University College of the North (UCN), Manitoba’s newest post-secondary institution invites applicants for a 6-month limited term position teaching English Literature courses and Writing and Composition courses. Responsibilities include delivering one section of Thematic Approaches to the Study of Literature at the first-year level, one section of World Literature at the second-year level, two sections of Academic Research and Writing and one section of Composition and Rhetoric. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in first-year English composition and literature courses. A Master’s Degree in English with experience teaching writing and rhetoric and literature at the college or university level is desirable. A PhD in English and experience teaching writing, rhetoric, and literature at the college or university level is preferred. Also required are demonstrated creative and culturally relevant instructional practices with adult and Aboriginal learners, inter-cultural experience and appreciation of the challenges facing Aboriginal students, and personal experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture. The ability to speak an Aboriginal language is an asset.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of application and a curriculum vitae, and should arrange for three references to submit letters on their behalf. The successful candidate will be expected to travel while teaching at UCN’s dispersed campuses. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
