The Position: The Manager provides specialized support to the Dean of Health, administering and coordinating a wide range of duties to assist with the smooth operation of Community-Based Programming (CBP). The Manager works closely with all members of the Faculty of Health, staff of Post-Secondary Access Centres, and heads of administrative units on a variety of issues and projects related to Health’s CBP offerings. In matters of discipline, workplace incidents, or other sensitive and confidential labour matters the Manager will need to maintain strict confidentiality of information (to be shared with the Dean) and must keep all related materials in a safe secure manner. This position requires significant initiative, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Overall, the incumbent will be responsible to exercise executive management functions for the faculty.


  • Undergraduate Degree of equivalent experience and education
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous management experience
  • Familiarity with Health systems
  • Familiarity with UCN governance
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and delivery for Health programs
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Personal experience and/or knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous culture
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and to deal with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern communities


  • The ability to speak an Indigenous language
