Feds to fund Manitoba First Nation’s forestry operation – Canadian Forest Industrie

The Canadian government today announced a $50,500 investment in the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation, a Swampy Cree First Nations band government whose reserve community is located in northeast Birch River, Man.

The money will help the First Nation launch a feasibility study and a business plan for a logging operation and forest development activities, such as land-use planning, forestry practices, long-term forestry planning and reforestation.

The funding comes from Natural Resources Canada’s Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI).
