The vehicle had hit the ditch and rolled several times. The 42-year-old driver from Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died on the scene.

The 31-year-old passenger, also from Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation, was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.
