Judge believes Manitoba Indigenous trio in lengthy illegal hunting trial – National Post
WINNIPEG — Three Indigenous people in Manitoba accused of hunting at night have been found not guilty.
Harriet Sanderson, her partner Clinton Beardy and her brother Glenn Sanderson were stopped by a conservation officer near Lake St. Martin in the Interlake region in October 2015.
The court heard they were shining a light out the passenger window of a pickup truck and were in contravention of the provincial Wildlife Act.
The accused argued they were simply checking a bluff on a relative’s property for deer to hunt the next day.
