Winnipeg, MB – Today, during a duly called Caucus Meeting, Manitoba Metis Federation (“MMF”) President David Chartrand and the Caucus membership announced their readiness for an election. The election cycle occurs every four years plus three months, with the current elected membership ending in September 2018.

The most recent version of the Manitoba Metis Federation Inc. Constitution was ratified by the 49th Annual Assembly dated September 24, 2017. Under the section titled, Manitoba Metis Federation Inc. Election By-Law, Article III, Chief Electoral Officer, the by-law stipulates, “1. The Board of Directors of MMF shall appoint a person to serve as Chief Electoral Officer for each election. The person so appointed shall also have the responsibility to conduct any necessary by-elections while his/her appointment remains in effect.” MMF would like to reiterate the appointment of Mr. David Gray, who is appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer for this election.

“We are excited to begin the next leg of this incredible journey that the MMF has been on for the last number of years. I am proud of our accomplishments and the tremendous strides we have made with many of our portfolios. We look forward to the sound, democratic process we abide by and are committed to a fair and just process.” (Metis Caucus).
