WINNIPEG – New figures show the City of Winnipeg’s former acting chief administrative officer, who resigned in February 2015 after being suspended by newly minted mayor Brian Bowman, walked away from the job with a lot of money.

The city’s 2015 Compensation Disclosure list shows that Deepak Joshi got $567,339, putting him at the top of the list for the year, even though he was on the job for less than two months.

The details of Joshi’s suspension have never been made public except for Bowman’s statement that he had “lost confidence in him.”

Joshi resigned just before his suspension would have ended.

Second on the list was chief operating officer Michael Jack at $222,251, while the police chief was in third at $219,324.

Seven of the top ten salaries were paid to members of the Winnipeg police service while Bowman came in 18th at $178,738.
