Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg, MB –Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) is launching a campaign to raise funds for its annual Santa Express initiative, which runs from December 2 to 20, 2019. This is an annual initiative that brings Santa Claus to the First Nations that MKO represents in Northern Manitoba.

“We are thrilled to be able to help brighten the lives of children and their families during the holiday season,” said Grand Chief Garrison Settee. “Santa Express is one way for us to show children living in the North that we care about them.”

Santa Express provides nearly 15,000 children in Northern and remote communities with an opportunity to visit with Santa. Each child receives a small gift from Santa during their visit.

MKO is a non-profit organization that represents 26 First Nations. Raising funds for Santa Express helps to make this heart-warming initiative a reality. MKO is encouraging caring Manitoba and Canadian organizations and residents to donate to support this cause.

People and organizations can donate by:

  • Making an online donation through our Go Fund Me campaign.
  • Sending a cheque or dropping off a cash donation to either of our offices (55 Selkirk Avenue in Thompson, MB, R8N 0M5 or suite 1601 at 275 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2B3)
  • Attending or buying tickets for our fundraising social at the Earl Grey Community Centre in Winnipeg—tickets are $20 each and are available at 1601-275 Portage Avenue during MKO’s regular office hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, closed for lunch from noon to 1 pm)
  • Providing prizes for the social’s silent auction

“Santa Express is only possible because of the generous support from individuals and businesses,” stated Grand Chief Settee. “I send my gratitude to all donors for their dedication to making Christmas a little brighter for children living in Northern Manitoba.”

Organizations that would like to sponsor this campaign may contact MKO by phone at 204-927-7500 or by email at info@mkonorth.com.
