Results of the PhD Graduate Project – UM Today

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is excited to share the results of the PhD Graduate Project, which was conducted over a six-month period in the latter half of 2018. The project employed searches of open-access data sources, such as official university, company, and social media websites to determine the current and/or first employment status of University of Manitoba graduates as of 2018. Included were PhDs who graduated between 2008 and 2017, in all disciplines.

During this period, 1329 students graduated with a PhD. Among these:
• 590 Female (20 in Humanities; 215 in Life Sciences; 96 in physical Sciences; 251 in Social Sciences)

• 739 Male (21 in Humanities; 209 in Life Sciences; 376 in physical Sciences; 131 in Social Sciences)
• Canadian citizens = 642 (47.8%)
• International = 383 (28.7%)
• Permanent Resident = 288 (21.6%)
