Folklorama returns to CMHR with night of music, dance, cuisine, storytelling and human rights

Folklorama has teamed up with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) for an evening filled with cultural performances, storytelling and cuisine in the Museum’s iconic setting on Friday, March 21.

This event will open with performances by renowned Indigenous performers and take visitors on a journey through the rich histories, stories and flavours of Chile, Greece and Ireland. Attendees will also have the chance to explore various galleries within the Museum.

Savour a menu that celebrates the flavoursome culinary traditions of each highlighted culture, masterfully prepared by WOW! Catering. Guests can indulge in a Chilean Choripán sandwich featuring succulent roasted chorizo and zesty chimichurri sauce, savour a classic Irish beef and stout pie, and finish with a luxurious baklava topped with creamy Greek yogurt and crunchy pistachios.

Lawrence “Clifford” Spence:

An esteemed practitioner of hand‐drumming and cultural storytelling, Clifford captivates audiences with his performances, drawing from years of experience across Manitoba, Canada, and beyond.

Grupo Rümel | Chilean Folk Dance Group:

Sponsored by the Manitoba Chilean Association Cultural Centre, this dynamic dance group showcases the folkloric music and dances of Chile, including those from the enchanting Island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

Kefi Manitoba Inc. (Kefi) | Greek Folk Dancers:

Committed to preserving Greek culture through dance and music, Kefi captivates audiences with their vibrant performances, featuring handmade costumes representing various regions of Greece.

McConnell Irish Dance:

As one of the oldest Irish dance troupes in Canada, McConnell Irish Dance delivers energetic performances rooted in tradition, reflecting over a century of artistry and cultural heritage.
