Funeral Service for Métis Elder George Fleury – A highly respected Métis Elder, mentor and leader who touched so many

A private family funeral Mass was held for Elder George Fleury in St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Minnedosa, MB. The MMF would like to share the video of the service for those who would like to watch it.

Since his retirement, George dedicated himself to music, singing and playing guitar, and reviving the old Michif songs. A fluent Michif speaker, he was a long-time member of the MMF Michif Language Committee. For many years he served as an Elder for the MMF and MNC.

George Fleury has the distinguished honour of being inducted into the Order of the Metis Nation in 2019.  He was a remarkable man in so many ways, a true believer in the Métis Nation and one of our many Heroes, whose contributions to his community, family, friends, and Métis Nation will never be forgotten.

I am sure that community of Manitoba along with many others will miss his presence, his humour and his leadership.
