Louis Riel Day: Remembering the Métis leader and Canadian politician with a broader look at his legacy

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is pleased to launch an updated version of the Louis Riel, the Red River Rebellion and the North West Campaign Thematic Guide. Building on the Department of Militia and Defence materials identified in the previous guide, our current version offers the reader a broader look at Louis Riel and the disputes of 1870 and 1885. The new materials encompass a selection of archival sources found in prime ministerial papers, various private fonds held at LAC, and governmental agencies other than the Department of Militia and Defence.
