The Manitoba government is proud to announce the first recipients of the new Circle of Honour medallion, which recognizes individuals whose remarkable bravery, resilience and dedication embody the spirit of service and unity, Premier Wab Kinew announced today.

“The Circle of Honour is about recognizing the people whose courage, resilience and dedication show what’s best about Manitoba,” said Kinew. “We’ve been given a tremendous gift in this country, the chance to live a good life, no matter who you are or where you come from. That’s only possible because of the people who step up to serve others. Their sacrifices make it possible for all of us to live in freedom, to raise our families, and to believe in the promise of Canada.”

The 2025 recipients are:

  • Lt.-Col. Kim Wilton,
  • Gunner Len Van Roon, and
  • Sailor 1st Class Justin Woodcock.

The Circle of Honour was created to recognize individuals whose dedication and service have brought distinction to their units, their communities and the province of Manitoba. The inaugural awards focus on veterans of the Second World War and more recent service members, and future recipients will include those who have served in other conflicts and operations.

The Circle of Honour program will be administered through the Manitoba government’s Protocol Office, which oversees awards such as the Order of Manitoba and the Order of the Buffalo Hunt. The Circle of Honour medallion is accompanied by a framed certificate signed by the premier and stamped with the Great Seal of Manitoba.
