Indigenous Health Research Symposium Speaker Series, presented by Ongomiizwin – Research
Maria Campbell is best known for her memoir, Half-breed, where she writes about her realities that she overcame as a Métis woman in Northern Saskatchewan. Maria Campbell did her graduate work in Native Studies at the University of Saskatchewan. She has received eight honorary degrees and is the cultural advisor at Athabasca University and college of law and the Indigenous law centre at the University of Saskatchewan. Campbell is a celebrated author, playwright, teacher, respected Elder and community worker. She will discuss midwives in her family and Indigenous midwives with whom she has had the opportunity to work. Ongomiizwin-Research is honoured to host Maria Campbell as the first speaker of the Indigenous Health Research Symposium Speaker Series.
