Missing aboriginal women a scandal – Guelph Mercury

As a student at Rockwood Centennial Public School, I learned a lot this past school year about aboriginal peoples and how they have been, and are being treated.

We learned about the thousands of missing and murdered women. Did you know there are over 2,000 missing aboriginal women and girls in Canada? Did you know our governments, at all levels, are doing nothing.

There have been protests and other letters written to our government but they still do nothing. Could you imagine if 2,000 white girls went missing? Well, it wouldn’t happen, because after one went missing they would find her and arrest the people who did it. Can you imagine the constant fear aboriginal women must have for themselves and their daughters?
