SCO Proud to Share New Website: Red Dress Stories MB
October 31, 2025
The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is proud to share a new website called Red Dress Stories MB.
You can find the website here.
This website takes readers through a difficult journey.
It was launched earlier this month in Treaty One Territory, on the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two Spirit, and Gender-Diverse (MMIWG2S+) People.
SCO expresses thanks to everyone who was involved in bringing this project to life.
SCO recognizes the ongoing leadership of advocate Sandra DeLaronde and all those involved with Giganawenimaanaanig, formerly known as the MMIWG2S+ Implementation Committee.
Giganawenimaanaanig developed this project. It is meant to be an evergreen memorial that continues to grow.
It is also intended to be used as a teaching tool for educators, policy makers, and leadership organizations.
This project aims to:
- Honour the lives and memories of MMIWG2S+ individuals
- Support families and communities in sharing stories
- Educate the public about the crisis and its root causes
The website helps to remember all the beautiful people, whose lives have been impacted by the national emergency of MMIWG2S+, in a good way.
SCO is honoured to be a partner organization on the project, which includes an interactive map of Manitoba along with the stories of hundreds of people connected to various parts of the province.
If you’d like to learn more about the stories of those impacted by the national emergency of MMIWG2S+, SCO encourages you to visit the website.
If you require emotional support, please call the national, independent toll free 24/7 MMIWG2S+ support line at 1-844-413-6649 to speak to a counsellor. The service is available in English, Anishnaabemowin (Ojibway), Cree, Inuktitut, and French.
