Winnipeg police say a 44-year-old man has been arrested after a First Nations woman complained she was attacked and confined in his cab.

The incident took place in the early morning hours of Sept. 26.

According to a release from police, the man, who is not named, was arrested Oct. 5 and charged with forcible confinement and assault.

At a news conference hosted by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs on Sept. 28, Serenity Morrisseau, 18, alleged she was targeted and assaulted by the driver during her late hour ride.

According to Morrisseau, she and three friends entered the Unicity taxi at The Forks and headed home.
Morrisseau said at a news conference on Sept. 27, that’s when things escalated between the girls and the cab driver.
