AMC Expresses Support for Berens River First Nation After Loss of Community Arena
January 17, 2025
Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) extends its heartfelt support to Berens River First Nation as they begin rebuilding their community arena, a vital space for gathering, celebration, and opportunities for youth and families.
“Our thoughts are with Chief Hartley Everett, the Council, and all members of Berens River First Nation during this challenging time,” said Acting Grand Chief Betsy Kennedy. “Community spaces like this arena are so important to First Nations—places where events are hosted, traditions are celebrated, and youth find inspiration through sports and other activities. Though this loss is deeply felt, we know the resilience of Berens River First Nation will guide them in rebuilding.”
